Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions
- Be a Friendly Visitor
Visit with a senior on a regular basis. Visit on a schedule that works best for both volunteer and senior. - Drive People to Appoints or Shopping
Drive a seniors to the grocery store, to medical appointments or other necessary places. This can be done on a casual basis as needs arise or you could be matched with one senior who could use your on-going assistance. - Run Errands for Groceries, Household Supplies and Other Necessities
This can be done on a casual basis as needs arise or you could be matched with one senior who could use your on-going assistance. - Help with Household Projects
Are you a handyman or woman? This opportunity is on an as needed basis. Let us know if you have a specific skill such as painting, plumbing repair, etc. - Help with Computer Skills
Our seniors are always looking for someone to help with them with their phones and computers. This could be on an as needed basis or we could match you with one senior who needs more help. - Provide Blood Pressure Checks
If you have a medical background and would like to help staff our weekly neighborhood blood pressure clinics let us know. Equipment is provided. They are 1 hour long at 3 locations. - Lead Exercise Classes
Lead exercise classes in two neighborhood locations as a sub or a regular instructor. Must have knowledge in senior exercise programs, yoga, Tai Chi or other senior friendly forms of exercise. Classes are held 2X/week in two neighborhood locations. This could be on a regular basis or as a sub. - Assist with Fundraising
Help prepare and stuff envelopes for our annual appeal letter which goes out in November. - Pet Care
Assist neighborhood seniors with walking their dogs or caring for their pets while the senior is in the hospital or unable to care for their pets. This is a temporary, as needed opportunity. - Help with Seasonal Chores
Neighborhood seniors with fall or spring cleanup, garden maintenance, snow shoveling or other outdoor chores. Individuals and youth groups are encouraged to offer to help with this. - Become a Board Member
Provide direction, support staff, and give your input on what the North End Area Seniors can do to improve the lives of our neighborhood seniors. Our board meets at 1:00 on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Front Hi-Rise. Need to be a neighborhood resident who lives, works, and worships or has an interest in NEAS seniors. [more info]
